As far as tans go I’m usually only tan in the summer & pretty much ghostly October-May. I’ll use Jergens natural glow to gradually tan on occasion but the smell drives my bf crazy. He says I smell like maple syrup but that it also makes him nauseous.. I’m like well, thanks 🤷🏼♀️🤣
I decided to get an at home self tanner because the lady I go to for spray tans was on vacation. I was referred to Bondi Sands by a client of mine. After reading a lot of positive reviews I decided to order their self tanners. I purchased the ‘1 hour express’ and the ‘Dark self tanning foam’. I wanted to use the dark self tanning foam before my trip to Las Vegas. I also bought their tanning mitt & back applicator to help with the application.
The foam comes out of the bottle as a chocolate color so it’s easy to see where you’re applying the product. I was careful not to overuse this product because a little goes a long way. I used a foundation brush to buff the product on my face, neck, hands, wrists & ankles. I also applied moisturizer to these certain areas prior to applying the mousee. I would do your dryer areas last with left over product on the mitt. I started from my legs and worked my way up with the product. I applied a second layer a half hour after my initial application but only did one layer on my face since I use makeup anyway I wasn’t worried about a tan face. I would definitely recommend getting help applying the product to your back.. unless you’re a contortionist. The back applicator wasn’t working for me so against his will my boyfriend put the mitt on and did my back for me. I’m hoping it’s not all blotchy 🤣
With The Dark tanning foam, Bondi Sands recommends leaving it on for a minimum of an hour and a max of 6 hours. No harsh smell upon application just a mild coconut smell. As the tan was developing I started to smell that “self tanner” smell but it didn’t bother me as much as jergens and I felt better knowing i was going to rinse it off and not sleep in it.
So after 5 hours I went in to shower to rinse off. After patting dry I moisturized as usual and my tan looks amazing. No streaks and a nice even glow. Next time I would be more careful with my hands because my hands are the dryest from working with bleach & constantly being in the water. But all in all I think this self tanner is perfect for a first time at home self tanner, like myself. Between the tricks I learned from YouTube and following the directions it was pretty easy to use this self tanner. Just remember to be careful around the certain areas and you’ll love this product! Can’t wait to be tan all winter long now!!
